Just this past Thursday, the whole school celebrated the half way, half day assembly. We celebrated the end of first semester and the finishing of finals. Our school year is September through June , and we have made it halfway through the whole year. We celebrated in a variety of ways. From musical chairs to beat boxing instead of music, to the orchestra’s memorable performance, the assembly was upbeat and exciting.

At the assembly we heard news on various topics from the teachers of the school. We heard about the TSA regionals, the 100 mile club, and the students with perfect attendance.

The students of the month from each month were presented along with the personal best award. Mr. Sos, the eighth grade counselor, taught us about the many ways to earn one of those titles. “Students working hard, doing assignments are the ones you’ll see at the lunch. You have to be very studious to earn an award.” The winners of personal best and students of the month win a pizza lunch at the end of each month. The winner will also win a double lunch period.

The highlight of the assembly was the slideshow put together by ASB representatives and the advisers. It featured photos of various students, and their thoughts on Brier Terrace. The quotes were all anonymous, and were mainly their first impression of middle school For example: “It’s cool coming to middle school and looking forward to a fresh start,” and “I feel like I’ve made friends that will last a lifetime.”

Student Jason Hill said “The musical chairs was pretty funny. It was definitely my favorite part.” He enjoyed the beat boxing and seeing the teachers scramble for their seats.

The assembly was a huge hit with students and teachers alike.
