During the month of February, Ms. Garrison and Ms. Kasprzyk created a contest in the library. The purpose is to match up lonely books that have not been checked out recently with several students who may fall in love with them. Participants read a book chosen at random. If a student decides that they dislike the book they are reading, they may “break up” with the book. If they break up early, the student must create a break-up letter and choose another book. The second book is the last one people can pick, and they must finish it. When students finish their book they have the choice of making an Anti-Valentine or Valentine card consisting of a poem or letter that expresses the student’s opinion on the book. The prizes are a singing elephant, a grumpy cat, and a foosball game.
