The New Technology of Brier Terrace

Chromebooks are the new technology in our school. What will the outcome be with this new technology? Some features of the Chromebooks are that you can access your school email, Google docs, drive, and calendar easily. Although, it might take time for everyone in the school to get used to it. In many classes they are used to do school work, which you can also access.

“My opinion on Chromebooks is they are so useful because you can take them home to use; instead of just doing school work at school you can now work from home. If you are sick you can just find the assignment and just get to work...I just love it. It helps so much because of Google calendar; teachers can just tell you [when] stuff is due. I mean like come on how is that not useful,” -Donovan Manley, eighth grader

“The Chromebooks are a tremendous asset to Brier Terrace Middle School. Not only does it mean that classes don’t have to sign up to access computers, but all students have a device they can use for educational purposes. Staff and students can collaborate more often and access resources they couldn’t otherwise use. We can teach students how to be good digital citizens using tools that they all have, as well as how to evaluate the reliability of online sources. Teachers have tools that will help them create more engaging lessons, so student learning can be deepened and enriched. Since this is the first year, staff and students will often be learning together, which is an exciting prospect as well.” -Ms. Alexander
