On Thursday, October 22nd, Brier Terrace had its first spirit assembly of the school year. The assembly was hosted by ASB President Meghan Park, Spirit Committee Chairman Sebastian Olson, and ASB representative Preston Sanders. It was held to celebrate the first season sports, and spirit students had shown throughout the first spirit week. The spirit week started with Bad Hair Day on Monday, Fancy Day on Tuesday, Pink Day on Wednesday, and BTMS Pride Day on Thursday, where the eighth graders would wear red, while the seventh graders would wear yellow.
Games were held for the sports teams and students to participate in. The first game was the football team versus the boys cross-country team. In this game, the students would try to knock down the other team’s bowling pins with the dodge balls, and the team that won was the boys' cross-country team. The second activity was a game where the teams would take turns trying to act out a word or phrase, and the team with the most correct guesses won.. Participating in the game was the girls' cross-country team and softball teams, and the game ended with a tie. The final game was a game of bump to show spirit for the upcoming basketball season. In the finals was Mr. Rogers and Edward Kocharov, and between the two, Mr. Rogers won.
During the assembly, students in the crowd voted for the student who showed the most spirit during the week out of the nominees chosen for each day. Tristan Sanders won the bad hair day nomination, Shivaansh Anderson-Kumar won the fancy day nomination, Memphis Ramerman won the pink day nomination, and Aaron Mengle won the BTMS Pride day nomination. Out of all the nominees, Memphis Ramerman got the mostapplause from the students, and won a trophy for showing the most spirit. Students also voted for the teacher who showed the most spirit. The teacher nominees were Ms. Rasmussen, Ms. Longworth, and Mr. Sullivan. Mr. Sullivan got the most applause from the crowd, and won a trophy.
