Picture this: It’s 1968, you dash through the halls of Woodway Senior High School, only a seventh grader, squeezed into the school because you are waiting for somewhere else to go. You are waiting for a new Junior High to be built, Brier Junior High School. The plans wouldn’t be approved until the following year, and even after that, the school wouldn’t be fully constructed until yet another year. So you are to be moved into another into another temporary establishment, Hilltop Elementary. On December 13, 1968, buzz swarmed the school about an upcoming vote. The students themselves would be deciding what would represent their new school, and the final decisions decided that the school mascot would be “The Braves”. The school colors were to be scarlet and gold. Along with this (and several other decisions), the new school was on the way.
