Friday, December 18th, the Bulldog Brief went to Mountlake Terrace High School and got to spend the day with the Hawkeye newspaper for an all day journalism experience. The Bulldogs got to learn what it was like to be a Hawkeye journalist in training. Everyone broke into groups and got to watch an instrumental performance of the Nutcracker soundtrack mixed with a special touch of jazz texture, then take notes, interview, and write real reviews based on the performance.
The Bulldogs also got a chance to talk to Nick Fiorillo and Anh Viet Nguyen (former Hawkeye staff) and learn about things that will help with the future, like college. The Hawkeye announcements were shown, and there were many ideas that the Bulldog Brief staff could use for Brier Terrace’s announcements. The Hawkeye staff also provided them with lunch. Throughout the retreat, the students were able to learn about how to make professional announcements, information that will help us with our future, how to take professional pictures, do professional graphic art, and participated in good team building exercises. Overall, the Bulldog Brief very grateful that the Hawkeye staff invited us to the retreat, and are excited for future retreats.
