Dear Taylor,
I recently just came here but I feel really lonely. It's been 6 months already and I only have a handful of friends. I’m really shy and I don’t know how to make friends.

Dear Need to be Answered,
Thanks for writing. We’ll be happy to try to help.
One thing you can do to meet more people (and hopefully friends) is join a club. There are tons of them, all visible on the school website. Find something you would want to do, then show up. It’s that simple. There, you’ll find people who share at least some things in common with you, like what the club is about. If there are no existing clubs that you like, start your own! Find a staff mentor, have that mentor help you advertise, and launch one that you would like to do. There are many staff members who would be happy to help you.
Also, stand out. If you’re shy, people don’t notice you. If you want more friends, be noticed! Not in a bad way, but so that people know your name. Get to know the people who sit at your table, or if you're in desks, the people around you. Then, talk to them. Don’t do it while the teacher's talking, but when you're working in groups. If you get to know them, they will try to know you.
I hoped that helped with your problem. If it didn’t, please write again, and we’ll try our best.
Sincerely,
Taylor
