The BTMS 2015 eighth grade volleyball team ended with a 3-6 record this season. On January 14th, the eighth grade volleyball championships were held at Alderwood Middle School. The Lady Bulldogs had a “Very close margin for the College Place to win. College Place won the first set 25-20 and College Place won the second set 25-22. We played them 2 days before and beat them 2-1,” said Mr. Rogers.

The eighth grade Lady Bulldogs “lost all of their games at the tournament and came in 4th place out of 4 teams,” said by Rogers. Throughout the season they are more able to play as a team and they try to minimize their weaknesses and improve their trust in each other.” Coach Rogers said, “They learned to play as a team, to trust each other and play well together.

Keauni Hynek said, “In the Alderwood game, we worked really hard and played well as a team. I was very proud of our team that first game because we stuck in it and even tried harder after we started to lose and brought it back. The championships were okay, they could have gone a bit better if we had all just kept our heads held high. We also needed to relax a bit more because during the games you could tell we were a bit nervous.” One thing she would want to remember for next time is to, “make sure to stay positive and keep our attitudes in good shape.”

The seventh grade volleyball team had a season record of 5-4. Their volleyball championships match was held at home in the gym. Teams gathered from Alderwood, Meadowdale, and College Place Middle School to determine which school’s volleyball team was the best. The 7th grade Lady Bulldogs played and came in 2nd place for the championships. Mr. Rogers said, “Our BTMS 7th grade team played great and tried their best, but weren’t able to pull off the victory.”

Rogers was asked what advice he would give to future volleyball players and he said, “We always got to compete regardless of the score; we have to give it our best anyways. Volleyball is more a mental game than a physical one; everyone has to contribute and it’s a team effort.” When asked about the season, he said, “Ultimately we had a fantastic season with a huge amount of growth and came in second place in the district. Looking forward to a phenomenal season next year.”
