Locker Removals

Have you ever been walking in the halls and noticed it was pretty cramped and full of people? Our halls are getting really crowded before school, after school and during passing. The school has come up with a solution. They are planning to remove all the lockers in the school to create more space. The lockers will be removed next year. Our lockers are really old and can cause some problems for our students. Many of BTMS student’s lockers are getting jammed and have some problems. These problems cause kids to come late to class. Coming late to class prevents students from learning. Since we have chromebooks now, we don’t need as many supplies. Fewer supplies means less to store in the lockers or carry around. Removing the lockers will make the halls bigger, roomier, and cause fewer problems for students and teachers.

The removal of the lockers can also catch students lying about the purpose of their tardies. Some students come to class late because they say their locker was jammed or any other problem being caused by the lockers. Some of these problems actually do happen, but students do misuse this chance.

You might be wondering where we’ll put our backpacks. Students will bring their backpacks around with them to each class. It’s not unusual to not have lockers at a school. Many schools have no lockers, causing the students to carry around their stuff with them. “The lockers that are slated for removal are to be moved to the ‘pool locker room’ prior to the grand opening next fall,” said Mr. Turner.
