Finals were on every student’s mind as they neared the end of the semester. Many students had finals this last semester, but some were more worried about it than others. Gavin Tardiff, an eighth grader, said, “A lot of bad things have happened, so I’m very stressed.” Gavin, an eighth grader at BTMS said that in an effort to be prepared he will be using his lucky #2 pencil.
Though not many students had finals this January, many are still stressing about grades and projects due soon. Some are preparing, and some aren’t, but all are concerned. Aleigha Evans, a seventh grader, said that she is feeling, “Stressed, but calm” and to prepare will be getting all the information she needs in order to pass her classes.
“It's slightly nerve-wracking for me. I don't really know what's going to happen, and I guess that strikes some sort of nervousness in me,” Ava Ladiges said. Students are stressed or scared, although some seem calm and collected about finals. Most students might not have finals or don’t even know if they were having finals.
While students were busy studying and preparing for the big test, teachers were as well. Most teachers have given their students an outlook at what content their final will be covering. Students have their own way that they will be studying (if they are at all).
“A lot in all honesty. I'm probably going to study on my own time, maybe have some friends so we all can study and think of ways to improve our test scores. I'm also most likely going to take some time and research some things that I didn't get. I'm also going to review notes so I can get refreshed on stuff,” Ainsley Ward, a seventh grader at BTMS, said in a survey.
Mrs. Longworth said, “I think that some reviewed and extensively, others did not review at all, and I know for sure some were reviewing last minute in my BEL class for the first time.” She was also asked: If you could say one thing to your students about the finals, what would it be? Her reply was, “Honestly to just keep calm, it’s a review of what they already know, and my final in particular wasn’t meant to trick anyone. It was multiple choice, and just a review to see if they’re retaining knowledge.”
For many students, finals were a stressful time, and many are glad that they have passed.
