Superhero Movies Improve Study Skills

Recent studies have shown that watching superhero movies improve study skills. The study, published by renowned scientist Hazel Woodworth states, “Most people think that superhero movies are a waste of time. I noticed, however, that if my roommate watched one right before a test, she would get A’s. I decided to test this theory, and came up with interesting results. We had a variety of subjects, from mice to humans. All were given a task involving math or following directions, half without watching a movie first, half watched a movie. The subjects that watched the movie did much better than the subjects that didn’t.”

It has also been proven that different movies improve different areas. For example, subjects who watched Ant-Man had a refined sense of humor and did better on tests involving problem-solving skills. Subjects who watched The Avengers worked better in teams and demonstrated improved communications skills. Batman spectators had enriched math and technology skills.

All of the subjects were given tasks, often requiring them to think outside the box. Group A, which hadn’t been shown any movies beforehand, showed normal results. Those who had been shown movies, group B, excelled in their respective areas. For example, group A was asked to run around a track, and the average time was 76 seconds. Then, subjects who had watched Superman, which has been shown to enhance athletic skills, were given the same task, and improved the previous time to 60 seconds.

“I think this happens at least partly because the people who see these movies are inspired to be a better version of themselves. Other than that, we honestly don’t really know what causes this,” says neurologist Jay Keen.

Fay Gomez, a biologist on the team studying this phenomenon, said that, “This is definitely something that we’ll be looking into. I think that the effect these movies have is intriguing, but we don’t have the whole picture yet. We’ll keep looking for the missing parts until we know what really causes this.”
